Austral was released in 2009 as a unique vinyl copy on Sylvain Chauveau's outfit Onement. The album was inspired by an art residency I did in 2006 in Reunion Island upon an invitation by artist Benoit Pierre.

I stayed on the island for tree months, working on several projects and performances with dancers and visual artists. As soon as I got back to Belgium, I started focusing on the mental images that remained, the landscapes I had seen, the impressions that the people I met and lived with over there had left in me. The album is a sonic translation of those images and atmospheres, but above all it conveys a feeling of profound isolation and loneliness I came through during the stay. And ultimately, the contemplative state that arose from it.
